A Voice in the Wind

I just finished reading A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. It was BY FAR one of the best books I ever read.

Without saying too much it is set back just after Jesus was Crucified. A slave girl named Hadassah from Judea was taken captive by the Romans, and taken to Rome to be sold as a slave. She was taken into the home of the Valerian's, and assigned to serve Julia. Julia is a young girl who is rebellious and wants to do as she pleases, despite what is acceptable in their Roman culture. Hadassah would tell Julie and her family stories of Jesus' life. Stories that her father, who had known Jesus told her. I learned so much about God reading through this novel. I saw verses quoted that I knew, and ones I didn't know, stories put into words that made it so much easier to understand, and made me realize so much about my relationship with God. Despite all the odds against Hadassah, her inability to worship Jesus openly, her job as a slave to a very rich family, and yet she has a stronger faith than anyone I've ever met. I am going to strive for that kind of faith. She had been through so much, but yet she clung to her faith in God and grew in her faith, despite having no one around her to share her faith with. Hadassah clung to God with all of her might, and trusted in him even when put in positions that could have potentially ended her life.

Its really a wonderful novel. I learned so much as a Christian. It was amazing to see the parallels between what they dealt with, and what we deal with. I would rate this novel a 9.5 out of 10. I started reading the second novel in the series the same night I finished the first. Its such a blessing to my life so far.

Thanks Leah for letting me borrow it :-D

haha...I never can read another romance novel and appreciate it as much as I did this one. Not only is it a wonderful story but it is also a great encouragement with how I view relationships and what I desire...They went through some major hardships but God never failed. Hadassa was sooo patient and it goes to show (even though its fictional it still has soo much truth to it) that when you wait on God, he always comes through with more than you could have imagined!!! :)
