Joy in Grief

Our sermon yesterday was finding joy, and hope through grieving. One verse our pastor used in his message really struck me, so I wanted to share it.

1 Peter 4:12-13 (New International Version)

12Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

God did not promise us that we would never suffer, that we would never feel pain. However, he did promise to be there for us through it all. To stand hand in hand with us, and use our pain for something good. Its really amazing to think that God knows my past, present, and most all my future. And its so comforting to know that no matter what I do, or say, he will ALWAYS be there for me.

God is so good. So so good.

That is such an encouragement!! It makes the pain and hard times a bit easier to take knowing that God is there with you and that something good will come out of it.

Know that not only God but our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ are there for us holding us up and encouraging us is what keeps the time here on earth bearable.
