Lactose Intolerance

My name is Melissa, and I'm lactose intolerant.

There, I said it. For all the world to see it. Now if only I could believe it enough to stop eating/drinking dairy products. The truth is, I love it too much. My choice comfort foods are Ice Cream, Pizza, Lasagna, and Cheesecake. None of which I can eat now. Its a crazy hard adjustment for me to make. I can take the lactaid pills, and it helps, sometimes, but not always, which leads me to believe that there's something else in the things I eat, not just the dairy that's making me sick. Sometimes ice cream doesn't affect me at all even if i don't take a pill, and other times my stomach hurts for days after eating it.

Maybe someday I'll learn that these things are no longer good for me, and force myself to buy the alternative products.

For now, I'll just eat it, and then whine when my stomach starts to feel like someone's squeezing the life out of it. won't that be fun for all of you?? :)

not fun!

you should think about getting checked for celiac/gluten.... when you have celiac, one of the first signs is a dairy-intolerance because the micovilli in your stomach lining are almost non-existent (and they are especially important for digesting dairy!). I've heard that when you change your diet, the dairy intolerance (in some people), can go away. Just a thought, since you said you still weren't feeling the best.

hope you feel better!

I have that coconut based chocolate icecream I was raving about if you'd like to try it. It's dairy free and good enough I've alredy eaten one of the 3 pints I bought. ;)
