My Hero
I saw this giveaway on Suzie's blog, and thought I'd enter. Check it out here for more details!
My hero is my grandma. She is an incredible woman, who has always shown unbelievable strength in every situation. Her husband didn't have the amount of respect for her she deserved, yet she did the best she could with the situation and raised three children.
When I was 8 years old, my parents separated and soon after they got a divorce. The divorce was incredibly hard on all four of us, but my grandma did her best to keep us together, and to support us through everything. Going to grandma's every weekend was an escape. We were able to pretend life wasn't as bad as it really was when we were at grandma's. We had three square meals a day. We had clean beds to sleep in, clean cloths to wear, and a grandma who loved us. Every morning we would wake up and go into grandma's room and lay in bed with her until she was ready to get up and make breakfast for us. We'd lay in bed and talk and decide what we wanted to do that day. She always made me feel so special during our morning talks. We'd spend the morning shopping, or running whatever errands she needed to run. We'd go home for some fried cheese sandwiches, and then spend the afternoon's playing with the neighborhood kids. Dinner was always something fun, but healthy. After dinner we would all change into our pajamas and grandma and I would sit in her green recliner and watch Golden Girls together, or Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. It was always a very special time. I look back now and I miss it, so much. I'm lucky to have had her supporting me through everything growing up. She was always on my side, and taught me to be a better person. She was truly incredible. And is to this day.
My grandma is my hero, in every sense of the word!
