A first

I have always been deaf, legally speaking. With my hearing aids I hear about 88% of conversation, in a quiet(er) place. I typically feel like I hear normally, but I rely on lip reading a lot in conversation.

I have have my current hearing aids for 8 years. I have always felt that spending whatever money you need to, to get the best quality hearing aids was worth every penny. You can't put a price on hearing.

The first night I had them I was driving home, listening to music on the radio, and it was raining, I had been driving for at least 45 minutes. When I pulled into the driveway and turned my car off, I heard something I've never heard. Rain. Its such a simple thing, but I had never heard rain before. What a beautiful sound it was.
