Serving

I have been thinking a lot about serving lately. I definitely think that I serve a lot inside our church family, but I don't serve a lot outside of the church. Its something I need to do more of.

After all the bible calls us to serve each other

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” ~ Luke 6:38

The bible calls on us to support others in their times of need

Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. ~ Philippians 2:4

The bible calls us to love each other and Him

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. ~ John 13:34-35

The bible calls us to forgive each other

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times ~Matthew 18:21-22

The bible doesn't tell us that these things only need to happen within your church family. We need to be serving others in our community. Our friends, our families, our neighbors. We need to be better servants of God.

Lord, Help me to serve others, and let your light shine in my life above all else.
